Staircase Fitting & Assembly Guidance

We have put together a few step by step guides to make sure your staircase fitting goes smoothly. If you have purchased your staircase in "Kit Form" then begin with our Staircase Assembly Guide. If your stairs are pre-assembled then go straight onto Fitting Staircase Newels. These guides are designed for the keen staircase DIYer, If you are unsure about any of this we recommend you speak to your local joiner!

ImageStaircase Assembly

This is a short guide to assembling the main carcass of your staircase - how to assemble the treads & risers into the stringers. Wherever possible we recommend you order your staircase pre-assembled, there is no extra cost for our assembly service. Flat pack stairs are used where space is very limited and require assembling in situ.

ImageNewel Post Fitting

A walk through on how to fit your newel posts to the stair stringers, newel posts on the staircase are morticed out to accept a tenon from the stair string. The post is machined to house the treads & the risers, glue & dowels will secure the newel in place. All of our stair components are made using CNC machines to ensure great accuracy.

ImageWinder Tread Fitting

To allow the staircase to be transported without damage and to fit into your property we send the newel posts and winder treads loose. Here we see how to fit the 3 kite winder treads, both the stringers and the newel post are housed out to accept the treads. Wedges, glue and screws hold the winder treads securely in place.

ImageStaircase Fitting

Wherever possible always fit any winder treads or feature steps before securing the staircase in place. Fitting loose treads once the stair is in situ can be very tricky! Here we will show you where to trim the staircase to suit both your floor thickness and skirting height, and finally securing the stair in place.
