Complete Staircase Renovation

The Renovation Project

This 1930’s semi-detached property was given a complete overhaul by homeowner Mr Proctor. He describes how he went about transforming the staircase as part of his renovation project:

“The house was old and dated, and in a mess. When thinking of ways to improve the hallway, stairs and landing, a new glass balustrade on the staircase was the first thing that came to mind. Having previously worked in the staircase industry, I already had some knowledge about what could be achieved here with a staircase renovation.” (Mr Proctor)

With a clear vision in mind for his staircase renovation, Mr Proctor began his search for a reputable joiner on, where he found ADH Carpentry and Joinery.

He said “Alex from ADH Carpentry and Joinery came out to measure and fit, and I ordered everything we needed for the staircase project through him.

“I knew I wanted to incorporate oak and glass with the new balustrade, but was just unsure as to whether to go for embedded or clamped glass. In the end, I decided clamped would look best.” (Mr Proctor)

“Now that the staircase renovation is complete, it has really opened up the space. It’s lighter and brighter in the hallway and landing.

“The finish is excellent. I would highly recommend Alex’s work. His attention to detail is exemplary!” (Mr Proctor)

Sourcing Parts from StairBox

Alex explains what stair parts were used for this particular project and why he chooses to use StairBox:

“The newel posts were all replaced, then we added an oak and glass balustrade on the stairs and landing. The strings and stairwell were also clad with oak. All of these parts were supplied by StairBox.

“I choose to use StairBox as they are my local staircase and stair parts supplier. I find the products good quality and have a good relationship with the guys that I deal with when placing orders.

“I was very happy with the finished result on this job.” (Alex Hughes, ADH Carpentry and Joinery)
