Frequently asked metal staircase questions

Installing a metal staircase is just as easy - perhaps even easier - than installing a timber staircase. No additional skills or tools are needed. The staircase is supplied in kit form with all parts ready to simply fit together as per the instructions provided - no adjustments required. The main difference to the staircase design is the trimmer plate which is a simple bolt-on connection to the upper floor.
No specialist metalworking or welding on site is required. The kit is designed to be straightforward for competent builders, joiners, or tradespeople using standard tools. Clear instructions and layout drawings are provided. Heavy lifting equipment may be required for heavier components.
Yes - everything bolts together, with the exception of the handrail. The handrail comes in straight lengths, which will need to be cut and mitre jointed by your fitters on-site to follow the top of the glass.
We’ll design the base plate fixing to suit the floor construction specified in your survey document.
The oak treads come unfinished as standard, allowing you to match them with other joinery or flooring on-site.
A straight-flight staircase usually takes a small team a day to install. More complex layouts (like quarter landings or multiple flights) may take longer.
Metal staircases typically have a slightly longer lead time due to fabrication - around 6-8 weeks from the point of order. Please note, lead times may increase during busy periods so please contact us for the latest lead times.
Our staircases are delivered in precision-engineered kit form, including all treads, metal stringers/risers, glass panels, brackets, fixings, and an oak handrail. Everything needed for assembly is included.
